Drª. Ileana Diéguez (UAM-Cuajimalpa, México); 2013: Tânia Farias (Oi Nóis Aqui Traveis), Elizabeth Silva Lopes (USP), Luiz Fuganti (Escola Nômade de Filosofia), François Kahn (França/Itália); 2014: Maud Robart (França), Thibaut Garçon (França), Nara Kaiserman (UNIRIO), Alba Lirio (RJ), Maria Thais Lima Santos (USP-SP), Tatiana Motta (UNIRIO); 2015: Donato Sartori e Paola Piizzi (Itália); 2016: Adrián Gómez González (ASAB, Bogotá), Amabilis de Jesus (FAP-UNESPAR), Ana Cristina Colla (LUME, UNICAMP), Bia Medeiros (UnB), Eleonora Fabião (UFRJ), Fernanda Magalhães (UEL), Maicyra Leão (UFBA).

The Wild West - Roots and Shoots

Holstebro Festuge (Festive Week): 10 - 18 June 2017

HolstebroFestuge_logo_200px.jpg

Holstebro Festuge is a cultural celebration by and with citizens of Holstebro and their International guests! The festive week is coordinated (since 1989) by Odin Teatret - Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium, who has brought together various local milieus which do not normally interact, to establish collaborations and mutual innovative projects in a nine day long festive week.

In this - the 10th edition of Holstebro Festuge entitled The Wild West - Roots and Shoots, we rethink the Wild West as a space where the impossible becomes possible and where boundaries are broken down, when roots and shoots emerge in new and different shapes and forms: Theatre on the streets, horses on the beach, music in the air, performances by the sea, theatrical wild cats and wild dogs, real centaurs and much more…
More than 200 unusual and entrance free events open to all!

The Wild West - Roots and Shoots is a project under the European Capital of Culture - Aarhus 2017and a part of Caravan Next, a large scale European Social Community Theatre with Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium as leading partner - www.caravanext.eu

21 - 31 August 2017 / Application Deadline: 20 June 2017

OWF_logoTOP.gif

A TEN-DAY INTENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO ODIN TEATRET'S TRAINING AND WORKING METHODS AS WELL AS BARTERS, LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES, ORGANISATION AND PERFORMANCES.

The ODIN WEEK FESTIVAL is an international theoretical/practical festival, held once a year at Odin Teatret in Holstebro for people wishing to acquire a better knowledge of its activities.

The programme includes training, attending rehearsals, all Odin Teatret's performances and work demonstrations currently on repertoire, films, meetings with Eugenio Barba, lectures and discussions. The programme is conducted in English.

The ODIN WEEK FESTIVAL lasts ten days from 8am until 10pm and offers the opportunity of a full immersion in Odin Teatret's diverse fields as a laboratory. The actors and Eugenio Barba lead the practical sessions of "the Odin Tradition" which is composed of different artistic visions, personal techniques and shared values.

Each actor gives the participants an insight into their individual training and creative approach to a performance- their actor's dramaturgy.  The meetings with Eugenio Barba are a time of dialogue concerning directing, group dynamics, pedagogical research, survival strategy, intercultural performance, management and the working process of the International School of Theatre Anthropology (ISTA). The programme also includes meetings with Odin Teatret's musicians, technicians and administrative staff, the preparation of a barter with local people and a visit to the town which has been Odin Teatret's home for 50 years.

The ODIN WEEK FESTIVAL provides an opportunity to get to know how a theatre group developed into a laboratory through the actors' individual training and performances, the specific planning of tours, the building of artistic alliances and an international network of collaboration, the strengthening of permanent bonds with the local community, the building up of a living archive making available the vast amount of documents and audio-visual materials about Odin Teatret's history as well as many theatre personalities and groups from the theatre of the last fifty years.

The ODIN WEEK FESTIVAL, for a maximum of 50 participants, is addressed to theatre and dance practitioners, scholars and anthropologists, cultural activists and politicians - all those interested in Odin Teatret's multiple fields of action. Participants can choose between being active or observers. The participation fee includes the cost of food and lodging.

THE TREE

Dedicated to Inger Landsted.

The tree of History grows vigorously and dead. Around it, child-soldiers and praying monks dance together with warlords, a wrathful mother, and the daughter of a poet who, as a child, dreamed of flying away with her father.

Two story-tellers introduce and comment upon characters and events: in the Syrian desert two Yazidi monks plant a pear tree to call back the birds that have disappeared; in Nigeria a mother rests under the shadow of the tree of forgetfulness holding in her arms the head of her daughter hidden in a gourd; a European warlord explains the necessity for ethnic cleansing to an African warlord who performs a human sacrifice to make his army of child soldiers invulnerable before leading them into battle; a girl plays with her dolls around the tree her father planted when she was born, wondering how birds see the earth from the air.

The tree of History finally bends under the weight of fruit and offers a home to the birds that are flying over the heads of the spectators. But what kind of birds are they?
